The Inspiration Behind the Book:

Hello EdgyVeg family! I hope you have been safe and enjoying a flavorful palette during these past few years since COVID started. We have been impacted by so many challenges together as a community, with major life events inviting us to find new perspectives on our self-love journey, many of us picked up new passion projects during quarantine. For me, I have been working on my new cookbook dedicated to reducing time and saving money in the kitchen during these unprecedented times! As food prices are rising and our economy is heading towards a recession, we have to adapt to these changes by finding alternative ways to nourish our bodies in a price-conscious way.

I know that vegan food can come at a great price in some regions, but the more we demand vegan options, the more we are able to increase the production of supplies. Which inevitably causes prices to drop. More recently, studies have also found that a plant-based lifestyle is actually cheaper than an omnivore lifestyle. If there is any way I can contribute to the well-being of our society, is by providing affordable, nutritious meals that will never compromise your need for great taste.

9th Annual TASTE AWARDS recognizes The Edgy Veg with Award for Best Home Chef in a Series

Rising star and vegan chef honored for YouTube series making ‘Carnivore-Approved Vegan Recipes’

LOS ANGELES, April 12 – The Edgy Veg, creator of the YouTube series, recipe blog, and cookbook of “carnivore-approved vegan recipes” announced today that they have received the award for “Best Home Chef in a Series” at the 9th Annual TASTE AWARDS in Los Angeles, California.  The award comes just after Chef-Creator Candice Hutchings published her first book “The Edgy Veg: 138 Carnivore-Approved Vegan Recipes” alongside her husband and co-creator James Aita.

Each year the TASTE AWARDS celebrate the year’s best in food, fashion, and lifestyle programs on television, in film, online, and in apps, radio and podcasts. This year’s winners include Mario Batali, Rachel Ray, Jillian Michaels, Man v. Food, Simply Ming and Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party amongst others. This year’s TASTE AWARDS Red Carpet Dinner and Reception took place at Chef Casey Lane’s Viale dei Romani in the new La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood.

“We are honored and humbled to be recognized by the TASTE AWARDS and are so happy that vegan food is becoming more and more mainstream”, said Edgy Veg Chef-Creator Candice Hutchings.  “It gives us even more motivation to create tasty new vegan recipes for the world to enjoy. Our goal is to make easy vegan recipes that carnivores, vegetarians, reducitarians and vegans alike can enjoy and that remind them of the food they grew up loving.”

The Toronto Guardian was a part of our blind taste test for the launch of the Edgy Veg Cookbook and wrote about their experience.

I’m sifting through the cookbook now and my mouth is watering. We were told to try the Cauliflower Buffalo Style Chicken Wings! And I wish I could show you the Chik-Fillet deluxe recipe – I pretty much want to lick the photo in the book.
